The Survival Atlas · Find Your Ground
The Atlas grades every state on 25 factors weighted equally — which is why so many cluster in the C tier. But nobody weighs all 25 equally. Tell the instrument what you care about and it re-ranks the whole continent — fifty U.S. states and thirteen Canadian provinces and territories — for your life: a match score, which of your must-haves each state actually meets, and how far your priorities move it from the book's equal-weight grade. The A–F grade stays honest and fixed; what changes is the order — and who lands at #1.
Pick the closest profile to pre-load priorities, then fine-tune. These are starting points, not boxes.
Save your current priorities to a slot, switch personas/sliders for your partner, save the other slot, then blend. The instrument finds the state that keeps the worse-off person happiest.
Dataset: all 50 U.S. states plus all 13 Canadian provinces and territories (63 in total) scored on the Atlas's 25-factor methodology (mid-2026). Grades shift as the Atlas adds and updates places and as live data on taxes, gun law, fiscal health, and disaster risk is refreshed — last year's match can change. · Bands: A 90+ · B 75–89 · C 60–74 · D 45–59 · F <45. · Risk factors are scored so 100 = lowest risk. · A planning aid, not financial, legal, or relocation advice.
